SHORT TERM VISITS
Short Term visits are week-long program for school groups accompanied by a teacher and a support worker (usually and Anangu Education Worker). These visits usually include students in year 6 to 7 and generally occur in weeks 3 to 7. The Short Term group will reside at Wiltja Boarding for the duration of the visit and attend a Wiltja host-school campus during the week (usually Woodville High School).
While at Wiltja Boarding, groups experience all aspects of boarding life, from morning and evening routines, after-school and weekend recreation activities and outings, meal times, assemblies and social activities.
At the Wiltja host-school campus, visitors will generally be a part of the Transition class and be involved in the same lessons as the Wiltja Transition students. At the end of a Short Term visit, Wiltja staff will make an assessment about the suitability of each student for a 2-week unaccompanied Transition visit.

TRANSITION VISITS
Transition visits are for individual or small groups of unaccompanied students and are for two weeks. Transition visits are compulsory for all potential students as they are the most accurate way of judging whether a student is likely to be a successful long-term candidate.
Purpose
Short Term and Transition visits help to:
- give the visiting students an understanding of what life is like at Wiltja and whether they might like to return
- give visiting teachers a better idea of what life at Wiltja involves and whether they would recommend that a student does a Transition visit
- give Wiltja Anangu Secondary College staff a better idea of whether the student has the skills and behaviours required to be successful at Wiltja
