The Duke of Edinburgh's Award forms the basis of the Wiltja Boarding Recreation Program. The award has the following components:

Adventurous Journey or Residential Project
Students may be involved in the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, each level requiring a greater time commitment.
Physical Recreation
Wiltja students have the opportunity to participate in a range of physical activities including bike riding, karate, orienteering and bush walks. There are also organised sports including football, softball and basketball.
Skill
At Wiltja Boarding, students have the opportunity to develop skills in a range of areas such as art, dance, music, woodwork and cooking.
Service
Wiltja students have been involved in various community service activities such as the Red Shield Appeal, assembling birthing kits for Zonta, Surf Life Saving and volunteering at Cleland Wildlife Park, Vinnies (the Saint Vincent De Paul Society) and the Aboriginal Elders Village.
Adventurous Journey or Residential Project
Participants in the Duke of Ed Bronze and Silver Award undertake an Adventurous Journey such as bike riding camp. Students undertaking the Gold Award have the opportunity to participate in a Residential Project. Previous participants have travelled to Vietnam, volunteering with less fortunate people and developing an understanding of the wider world.
